Carbide tungsten, invented at the beginning of the 20th century was developped further in the 1930s.
In 1933, two brothers, Robert and Jean Defougères decided to use carbide tungsten in the production of forming tools for working plastics. At the time this sector was taking off in the Haut-Jura area in France. Carbide milling cutters used to manufacture spectacle frames further developped this sector of industry.
In 1953, Pierre Defougères took succession and increased the range of standard tools to include carbide drill bits for both the industrial and masonry sectors. This activity started off in a small workshop (9 m2) in Paris.
In 1960 the small-scale production came to an end with the creation of the company DIAGER. DIA stems from the word “diamond” and GER comes from the Defougères family name.

Today Diager has taken on a whole new dimension in order to develop its productivity and improve competivity. Diager regularly invests in research and development. It has widened its scope of action to include diamond tools. Our aim is to provide a drilling solution for every sector of activity. Diager works closely with its end-users, drawing on their experience and demands, to gain valuable information for manufacturing new improved products.
